One of the things that many spiritual practices recommend is that you include your animals in your meditation practices.
My mother pointed out words from an ancient text that said saving a dog and loving it increases your good karma by leaps and bounds. That was surprising because in my culture the cow is considered the most sacred.
We noticed the karmic effects right away after we adopted our first rescue Ramses back in 2010.
For us it was a natural thing also to have mantras and guided meditations constantly running in our home, in our meditation room, to purify the energy of our home.
Our German Shepherd Ramses used to hear more mantras than we did because there were times we were out, and he was still home. We would often find him seated in my mediation room next to our garage waiting peacefully for us to return.
His favorite chant was the Mahamrityunjaya Mantra. He used to go into a trance when it was playing. Even when we offered him a treat, a car ride, or a walk we would be totally ignored.
It was a strange coincidence that when he passed away in the wee hours of the morning, the Mahamrityunjaya Mantra was playing in our bedroom. It was a very auspicious day as per our spiritual practices. He was cremated to the chant of the three mantras he loved, all sung by me. He always preferred my voice to that of the professional singers. And it was because of our karmic connection.
From what was told to me by several spiritual masters who knew about animals and their higher souls, meditation continues the soul’s elevation and gives a deeper connection between us and our animals. They come to us because of past life connections. We mistakenly think we chose them.
If a dog is sick, the medicine buddha prayer can be chanted to it and its medicine, food and water be energized. You can invoke for blessings of the guardian angel of the animal and request that the energy from the mantra or guided meditation be absorbed into their energy. This can be utilized to heal, and even absorbed into their food, medicine, and water to continue the healing.
The prayers that I have personally experimented with and tested with my students that seem to benefit both humans and animals are
- Om Mani Padme Hum
- The Lord’s Prayer
- The Gayatri Mantra
- The Mahamrityanjaya Mantra
- The Ganesha Mantra
- The Hanuman Chalisa
You may be drawn to something different, so do your own experimentation.
Your animal too has a karmic entitlement. It may move away from certain mantras and be drawn to others.
Classical music is considered the food of angels. Play classical music and see if it has a healing effect.
Animals absorb our stress, negativity, and disease. They are dying younger and younger so keep your home physically and energetically clean.
Anytime you have unspoken resentments, anger, sickness or fights your animal will absorb that diseased energy floating in the environment. As will other members of the family.
Cleanse your home, meditate, do yogic breathing, allow fresh sunlight into the house along with fresh air. Create balance.
Learn energy healing to heal yourself and your animal. Our body is made of cells. Cells are made of atoms and atoms are nothing but energy. So, you must release the dirty energy and replenish it with clean energy. Yoga, Reiki, Tai Chi, Pranic healing and many other esoteric practices are great in helping you and your animal heal.
When you love and care for an animal, your karma bank expands. Abundance and experiencing unconditional love are the rewards.
